Everything you need to know about creepy new horror film M3GAN and where to watch it

The kooky, creepy and quite frankly bizarre new horror flick M3GAN is creating quite the buzz.

Yet to be released in the UK, the sci-fi film follows a robot, M3GAN, and her new family who created the AI doll to keep their beloved daughter company.

Except, of course, there’s a twist. M3gan can be a little, erm, overprotective.

Dubbed by critics as ‘bonkers but brilliant’, this hilarious horror will have you freaked out one moment and in stitches (the good ones) the next.

But ahead of its release date, who is M3gan IRL? And, who plays her family? Here is everything you need to know about the most iconic film of 2023 so far.

When is M3GAN released and is it only out in cinemas?
M3GAN will be released in UK cinemas on Friday January 13.

It will initially only be shown on the big screen.

The age rating is PG-13, after the filmmakers re-shot some scenes.

Who is in M3GAN?
Allison Williams stars as Gemma, the unexpected care-taker of her eight-year-old niece, Cady. Unable to cope, Gemma calls upon creepy doll M3GAN to help out.

The 34-year-old American actor is most famous for playing Marnie Michaels in the HBO series Girls.

Allison also is an executive producer of the film.

She has one son, Arlo, who was born in 2021, and she can’t join in on all the online hype she’s getting because the star quit social media in 2020, according to an interview with Town & Country.

Cady is played by child actor Violet McGraw, who has appeared in numerous roles since 2018, when her debut performance saw her cast as Nina in popular Netflix series, Love.

Behind the icon that is M3GAN is not a load of wires and buttons, and not even just one actor – but two.

One is 12-year-old Amie Donald, who, as a competitive international dancer, physically brought M3GAN to life in her movements and those iconic dance scenes.

New Zealand-born Amie is also an actor, and played Maya Monkey in Netflix’s’ 2021 series Sweet Tooth.

As for M3GAN’s voice, YouTube sensation Jenna Davis is the 18-year-old behind that.

After finding fame whilst singing on the video platform, on which she has 2 million subscribers, Jenna soon forayed into acting, starring in Chicken Girls: The Movie, Raven’s Home and Maggie.

The LA-based actor recently made a video about the film that can be watched below.

Could there be a M3GAN sequel?
Australian producer James Wan has already talked about the possibility of a M3GAN sequel, and he even hinted at wanting to create a franchise.

‘What I will say to that is, whether it’s The Conjuring Universe, or Saw, or Malignant, or M3GAN here, we like to think of a bigger world,’ he told Collider.

He continued: ‘For me, it’s about creating the world, and knowing who the characters are, where the story could potentially go, and then building this bigger world.’
